My husband and I went on vacation to Austria. During our trip we visited Danube Island in Vienna. Tens of thousands of teen nudists sunbathe here on this man made island in the Danube River. Although nude sunbathing is unusual, all of the women were topless. So, "when in Rome", I removed my top. The feeling of walking around in public without a shirt was exhilarating. Little do we realize the freedom that most spend their entire lives never experiencing.

The freedom to be clothesfree is surprisingly blissful and exciting. I spent the entire day exploring the beach and lounging under the warm sun.

With that experience in mind, we later found ourselves at Bregenz in western Austria. This town has a nude recreation area with lockers, showers and other amenities. We started by getting undressed at the lockers. The first thing I noticed was that many women had their pubic hair shaved. Many of the men had their chest hair clipped or shaved. I guess when you're not wearing clothes body hair style becomes important.

Most of the people spoke English and we managed to meet several great friends that day. As we sat in our room that evening reflecting about the day, we both agreed that we should try and extend our stay here, as it really was the best part of our vacation.

The next morning my husband went to a local travel agency and made arrangements for us to stay here for four more nights. That cut our travel time in Italy short but we knew we wanted to enjoy ourselves in Bregenz some more.

All in all we met probably 20 couples and families. We ended up becoming really close with a couple from northern Austria who vacationed here regularly. We found some other really neat naturist resorts later in our trip in France and Spain and hope to return to them.

In the meantime however, there are wonderful places right here in California, especially in Palm Springs, where we have been having a blast. Though I do long to return to Europe.
